Our Mission
Morrison Heights Baptist Church exists to proclaim the greatness of God through Jesus Christ as the eternal hope of all peoples.
We are a church of followers of Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that the church is not our idea, but His. He has pledged to build and advance His church (Matthew 16:16) against all earthly or heavenly opponents. Under His authority and by His command, we voluntarily align ourselves in accountable relationships with each other through the church. We submit to His authority in this relationship and to the congregation and its leadership. The Bible uses many metaphors for this mutual interaction including family, marriage, building, field, vineyard, flock, body, and more. All of these metaphors imply deep relationships, God’s authority over it all, and our personal responsibility to keep and care for those relationships, including and especially our relationship with God. He is our Creator and the end of all things. He is Alpha and Omega. He is God and expresses Himself as Father, Son, and Spirit. There is no other like Him.
As a church, we have a mandate in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) to proclaim the good news of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection everywhere we go and with whomever we meet. We are committed to speaking, teaching, and reasoning with all people concerning the exclusivity and supremacy of Christ over all competitive gods, philosophies, or ideas. Jesus Christ has come from God in order to declare Him to the world and in His name alone is salvation found.
Right standing with God is not earned but is received by faith in Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9) But how shall they hear unless someone tells them? And, how shall they believe unless someone is sent to tell them? (Romans 10: 14-17) Our task is to take the gospel of Christ to every person we possibly can, regardless of earthly dividers, before it is eternally too late.
