SRV | family edition
Morrison Heights has once again been given the opportunity to help a local family in need. This fall we will be helping renovate and prepare a home for Tim and Marva. They have been raising their 10 children in less than optimal living arrangements. With the help of the Battlefield Park Neighborhood Association, Tim and Marva have been offered the opportunity to buy a house that will provide a much better situation for their family.
The house, built in the late 1920s, is structurally sound but will require a lot of work before it is ready to serve as home to this family. The plumbing and electrical systems require extensive modernization. The kitchen and bathrooms will need to be completely rebuilt. Additional work will include window and door replacement, drywall and flooring installation, insulation, painting and much more. This is truly a big project and our goal is to get this family in their new home for Thanksgiving. Will you consider helping us out?
While much of the work early on will require skilled hands, there will be many opportunities for the Morrison Heights family to get involved. Keep checking this page for updates on progress and to find opportunities to help. Also, consider completed the interest form below to indicate specific skills and abilities you can provide.
The house, located in the Battlefield Park Neighborhood of Jackson will be home to Tim and Marva and their 10 children.

October 3, 2019:
With the initial electrical and plumbing installation well underway, we are now ready to begin some additional tasks including installing windows, insulating (blow-in insulation) exterior walls, pulling nails from walls (to prepare for drywall), and installing sheetrock. This work will begin the week of October 7, and we need volunteers! Volunteers will be scheduled to one or more, 4-hour shifts. To volunteer, or if you have questions, contact Tim Rowan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
September 20, 2019:
We wish to thank the volunteers who helped work on Friday, September 20. Over a dozen men and women rolled up their sleeves and helped with demolition and cleanup. Led by Mr. Alton, the crew was able to remove old panelling and flooring from several rooms, remove old cabinetry from the kitchen, take down light fixtures, and help open up and expose sections of the walls necessary for electrical and plumbing installation and inspection.
